David and Angela Lore

David and Angela Lore were charged with child abuse, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and animal cruelty when it was discovered that they were leaving their four children, ages 7, 9, 14, and 16, home alone while they went to work during the day and that their home contained starving, deceased, and rotting pets. The family’s yard was also filled with mounds of garbage, and the children lacked proper medical attention. These conditions were discovered in March 2011 by detectives with the sheriff’s office when a complaint was lodged alleging that “the children were living in garbage and that starved pets were dying inside the home.” The Department of Social Services had opened an investigation on the family the previous December. David and Angela homeschooled their children, having registered with the state as “Rock Olive Academy.”
