Homeschooling’s

Invisible Children

The HIC database shines a light on abuse and neglect in homeschooling environments

Homeschooling can be beneficial when practiced by responsible home educators. However, lax homeschool policies give abusive caregivers a powerful tool to hide their abuse, or to escalate it. This project documents and analyzes incidents of abuse and neglect that occur in homeschool settings.

To date, we have analyzed over 400 cases of abuse and neglect, which have resulted in over 200 fatalities of homeschooled children.
